Having trouble with MacClear? We're here to help you reclaim your storage space.
1. "Access Denied" Errors macOS has strict security protections (SIP). If MacClear cannot delete certain files, you may need to grant it "Full Disk Access" in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.
2. Analysis Taking Too Long If you have a very large drive (2TB+) or many small files (e.g., node_modules), analysis can take a few minutes. MacClear caches results to make subsequent scans instant.
3. Git Repositories Not Found Ensure you have selected the correct root directory for scanning. By default, MacClear checks your user home folder. You can add custom paths in Settings.

MacClear is an open-source project maintained by the community.
MacClear is designed with privacy as its core principle. We believe that your system files, logs, and personal data should never leave your device.
MacClear operates entirely locally. All disk analysis, file scanning, and cleaning operations are performed on your machine. No file names, paths, or contents are ever uploaded to any cloud server.
We do not track your usage. There are no hidden analytics scripts, no "usage statistics" reporting, and no tracking pixels.
When you delete files using MacClear, they are either moved to the Trash (by default) or securely deleted if you explicitly choose the "Secure Delete" option. We use system-level APIs to ensure files are handled safely.
If you use the Git management features, MacClear interacts with your local Git configuration. It does not read, store, or transmit your SSH keys, tokens, or passwords.
Trust is our currency. If you have any questions, check the source code. It's open.
